Satu Hummasti, Assistant Professor. M.F.A. Arizona State University. Satu Hummasti, originally from Helsinki, Finland, graduated with a Master of Fine Arts in dance performance and choreography from Arizona State University in 1999. Since then, she has performed and taught all over the United States, and in Portugal and Finland. She has performed in New York City with Fred Darsow Dance and Barbara Grubel Projects, and has worked as a freelance dancer with Stephen Koester, Mary Fitzgerald, and A. Ludwig Dance Theater. Her own work has been presented at several NYC venues--- The Construction Company, Sal Anthony's Movement Salon, and at The John Ryan Theater at White Wave, as a part of the d.u.m.b.o. and cool New York Dance Festivals--- and has been seen in Boston, Arizona, and Seattle. Ms. Hummasti has taught master classes and participated in lecture demonstrations at Sarah Lawrence College, Bucknell University, Wesleyan University, Stephen's College, Trinity College, Denison University, University of Texas and Arizona State University, and has taught at the Trisha Brown Studio in Manhattan, in conjunction with Fred Darsow Dance. She is currently an Assistant Professor of Modern Dance at the University of Utah. Ms. Hummasti is also a writer of poetry, and she writes regularly for Fodor's Travel Guide in New York.
