Olivia Mason

Costume Shop Technician

Olivia attended the University of Utah where she received a BFA in Ballet and a Minor in Business. She also received an Associates Degree from Salt Lake Community College in Fashion Design. Olivia founded Olly Designs, her business which specializes in dancewear and costume design while attending the University of Utah. Aside from dancing and managing her own business, Olivia has also designed and constructed costumes for both Musical Theater and Ballet.

Olivia began designing costumes for productions at her high school where she designed and constructed costumes for West Side Story, Les Miserables, Singing in the Rain, The Music Man, and Pippin: The Musical.

Since graduating from the U, Olivia has been asked to make costumes for several local ballet schools including Salt Lake City Ballet. She was also commissioned to create the official leotard for the School of Dance here at the U.

Olivia also designs and makes many of the costumes for Municipal Ballet Co., with whom she currently choreographs and performs. Productions she has costumed for the company include The River of Rosewater (for 3 years), and the River Speaks Plainly.

During her studies at SLCC, Olivia also had the opportunity for an internship at the Ballet West costume shop. During her time there she enjoyed working alongside seasoned designers and seamstresses and assisted with costumes for Swan Lake, Beauty and the Beast, Balanchine’s Jewels and The Nutcracker.

Olivia is excited to return to the U as member of the costume shop team.
