Jessica Boone

MFA Candidate

Jessica Boone began dancing at a young age and remains driven to develop as a dance artist and educator. She earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance from the Ohio State University, where she trained with and performed works by Susan Hadley, Meghan Durham Wall, and Abby Zbikowski, and choreographed her senior project under the mentorship of Bebe Miller. During her undergraduate studies, Jessica also attended the American Dance Festival and spent time abroad studying various movement forms at Taipei National University of the Arts in Taipei, Taiwan.

After graduating, Jessica returned to her home state of Texas, where she completed her 200 hour hatha yoga teacher training and began her professional dance career. During her six years in Austin, Jessica performed as a company member of Kathy Dunn Hamrick Dance Company, and worked closely with Austin-based dancer and choreographer, Alyson Dolan. Jessica has performed at Austin Dance Festival, Brazos Dance Festival and Barnstorm Dance Festival, as well as universities and public schools around Texas. Most recently, Jessica premiered two pieces of choreography in a professional dance concert in January of 2019, and assumed the role as stage manager for the same show, calling cues for lights and music for most of the concert.

As a movement educator, Jessica has taught dance and yoga to both children and adults. She is currently a Master of Fine Arts candidate and a Graduate Teaching Assistant in the Modern Dance program at the University of Utah.
