Costume Shop Technician

 Rachel Hayes attended The Fashion Institute at Salt Lake Community College earning Associates's degrees in Technical Apparel (pattern drafting), Fashion Design, and Fashion Merchandising. As a student, Rachel served as both Vice President and Secretary of the SLCC Fashion Club which provided many opportunities for project and team management and event production.

Rachel has made patterns and designed for local companies such as Macabi Skirts, Salt City Emporium, Rose & Rye, and Red Barn Collections as well as designing costumes, wedding gowns, and couture clothing for private individuals.Talented in many areas of design, Rachel loves doing interior and event design as well as fashion design. In 2014 she designed, produced, and implemented the event design and decor for the Make A Wish foundation’s spring gala. Later that year she worked as the Event Design Coordinator for Art Meets Fashion. Rachel went on to design, coordinate and manage the festival kid’s area at Craft Lake City in 2016 and 2017.

She has lead and managed teams of stylists and volunteers working backstage at fashion runway events for SLUG Magazine, SLCC, and Fashion Place Mall.Rachel is the creator of a whimsical line of hand-embroidered clothing, accessories, and home decor called, Cherries and Feathers which has been featured in several local boutiques as well as local art festival, Craft Lake City. Her embroidery pieces have been included in group gallery showings at Urban Arts Gallery and The Hive Gallery.Rachel grew up dancing and loves creating beautiful, interesting, and functional costumes for our students here at the School of Dance.
