UofU School of Dance Hosting 2027 ACDA National Festival

The University of Utah School of Dance, in partnership with Kingsbury Hall, will host the American College Dance Association’s 2027 National College Dance Festival.

The ACDA stated on their website: “This three-day festival, held on the beautiful campus of the University of Utah will feature workshops, classes, research presentations, networking events, and evening gala performances. The Festival classes and workshops will emphasize the intersection of dance and creative technology.”

In previous years, the ACDA has taken place at the Kennedy Center, but the ACDA has changed this tradition, instead “taking the festival to different venues across the country to celebrate and highlight the amazing spaces our member schools have to offer.”

“The School of Dance is delighted to host the American College Dance Association's national festival in 2027,” said School of Dance Director, Dr. Melonie B. Murray. “The U has a long history of supporting and hosting ACDA regional conferences, and we are excited to share our beautiful stages and lovely city with a national audience.”

School of Dance Assistant Professor Sara Pickett is serving as a Festival Co-Coordinator for the 2027 Festival. “Bringing the National Festival to Salt Lake City will not only highlight the beautiful movement spaces on campus, including the Marriott Center for Dance studios, Hayes Christensen Theatre, and Kingsbury Hall, but will bring dance educators, choreographers, and up and coming dancers from across the country to learn about the deep history and rich culture of dance in Utah,” she said. “It’s going to be a blast.”
