Student Organizations

  • Each academic department in the College of Fine Arts has two College Council Representatives. The CFA College Charter states, "The Student Advisory Committee (SAC) representatives—two student representatives from each academic unit in the College (or their alternate)—shall also be members of the Council and have voting privileges. In units with graduate programs, one representative should be an undergraduate student, and one representative should be a graduate student. These representatives may be elected annually to their SAC position by their student peers in each unit or may be appointed annually by the unit’s Chair/Director. They serve for one-year, repeatable terms."

    Graduate Representative: Rebekah Guerra
Undergraduate Representative: Henrik Gustafson (Modern, Senior)

  • Character Dance Ensemble (CDE) is a folk and character dance performance group. Every May, they represent the University of Utah and the School of Dance by traveling globally upon invitation from international schools and companies to study and learn traditional regional dances with the local instructors. Additionally, they get to perform their repertoire and share their current knowledge of dance and culture with the locals. The following year, CDE adds these new dances from their most recent trip into their annual repertoire. They use these dances to participate in local performances and teach character workshops throughout the University and Salt Lake community. The clubs purpose is to introduce new culture to the dancers through travel and movement so that they may go about sharing their experience and knowledge with others.

  • Each academic department in the College of Fine Arts has three FAF Grants Representatives. FAF Grants Representatives 1) help CFA students navigate the FAF Grants process, 2) make decisions about FAF Grants applications and the funding process, and 3) decide which applications receive funding. Connecting with all of your FAF Grants Representatives early can be useful in writing a strong and fundable proposal. More information about FAF Grants can be found HERE.

  • The Modern Dance Student Concert Committee is a student group that allow students within the School of Dance Modern Program the opportunity to produce and direct a show once a semester. Committee member duties included advertising the auditions and performances, adjudicating auditions, selecting works, acting as stage crew, managing audio and lighting, as well as other tasks that give students the tools to run a full-length performance. Student Concert is a unique opportunity for students to showcase their choreographic work in a professional performance that is free to the public. Our goal is to encourage students to support their peers' artistic work and make dance more accessible to the surrounding community.
