Ashley Hamann is a ballet educator, rehearsal director, and arts leader with experience spanning pre-professional, collegiate, trainee, and professional dance education. She currently serves on the faculty of Ballet West Academy. Her teaching and research interests center on accessible and equitable ballet programming and pedagogy, with an emphasis on evidence-informed practices that support technical and artistic development, dancer wellness, and long-term physical health.

Prior to relocating to Utah, Ashley spent more than a decade at the Center of Creative Arts (COCA) in St. Louis, where she served as Dance Program Manager, Rehearsal Director, and Pre-Professional Division faculty. As rehearsal director for Ballet Eclectica, she staged and coached repertoire by artists including Tom Gold, My’Kal Stromile, Ben Stevenson, Julien Guérin, Kevin Thomas, and Kirven Douthit-Boyd. Her work also encompassed curriculum development, program management, large-scale productions, and the preparation of pre-professional dancers for performance and professional opportunities.

Ashley’s teaching experience includes Washington University in St. Louis, Saint Louis Dance Theatre, and Saint Louis Ballet, with guest teaching appointments at Louisville Ballet School, Ballet314, and Mareck Center for Dance. Prior to transitioning into education and leadership, she danced professionally with Missouri Ballet Theatre, where she progressed from the corps de ballet to soloist, as well as with Ballet Quad Cities and Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre. She trained at Orlando Ballet School under Peter Stark and Fernando Bujones.

Ashley holds a Bachelor of Science in Health Education and Promotion, graduating magna cum laude. She is an American Ballet Theatre National Training Curriculum-certified teacher, Pre-Primary through Level 5, has completed Pacific Northwest Ballet’s teacher training program, and is certified in Progressing Ballet Technique (PBT). She is also a NASM Certified Personal Trainer and has experience in outpatient rehabilitation working under a physical therapist specializing in dancers. Her interdisciplinary background informs her continued work in ballet pedagogy, conditioning, injury prevention, dancer wellness, and expanding access to high-quality ballet education.
