The School of Dance Presents:
Belle Danse
We invite you to the Marriot Center for Dance to enjoy a piece of ballet history and much more during Belle Danse. The expression “beautiful dance” refers to a style that developed in France in the 17th century. Following this era, in 1841 choreographers Jean Coralli and Jules Perrot premiered Giselle in Paris, and the work became one of the most celebrated classical ballets of all time. Adjunct Associate Professor Justine Sheedy-Kramer recreates the hauntingly beautiful 2nd act of Giselle, an audience favorite, and a story of love, betrayal, and forgiveness. Ballet West’s Principal Artist, Katlyn Addison returns to the U as a guest choreographer, and UU School of Dance alumna and celebrity Jenny Barlow returns to create a new work for her alma mater.
