American College Dance Association (ACDA)

The American College Dance Association (ACDA) exists to support, affirm, and advocate for dance in higher education. ACDA hosts regional and national conferences providing professional development, educational, and performance opportunities for university faculty and students.

The University of Utah engages regularly with ACDA by attending and hosting conferences.

Integrated Movement Studies (IMS)

Integrated Movement Studies (IMS) is an institution dedicated to the study of human movement. IMS has offered the prestigious Laban/Bartenieff Movement Analyst (CLMA) program for generations, producing hundreds of experts in the interdisciplinary field of human movement.

The University of Utah’s School of Dance hosts Integrated Movement Studies (IMS) workshops regularly. As part of the relationship between the School of Dance and IMS, IMS offers the Cadence Joy Whittier Scholarship to two graduate students (current or recently graduated).

National Association of Schools of Dance (NASD)

Founded in 1981, the National Association of Schools of Dance (NASD) is an organization of schools, conservatories, colleges, and universities with approximately 83 accredited institutional members. It establishes national standards for undergraduate and graduate degrees and other credentials for dance and dance-related disciplines, and provides assistance to institutions and individuals engaged in artistic, scholarly, educational, and other dance-related endeavors.

The University of Utah has been an accredited member of NASD since XXXX.

National Dance Education Organization (NDEO)

The National Dance Education Organization (NDEO) is a non-profit organization that supports dance educators in every setting and genre, dedicated to advancing dance education for people of all backgrounds.

Since 1998, the National Dance Education Organization (NDEO) has had a direct impact on dance education centered in the arts, developed partnerships with the leading dance, arts education, and education policy organizations in the country. NDEO has developed innovative professional development programs and disseminated vital research that have influenced the way dance is taught in every sector of the field.

The University of Utah is an institutional member of NDEO. Faculty and graduate students regularly attend and present at NDEO conferences and have published in NDEO’s publications: Dance Education in Practice and Research in Dance Education.
