Roles & Responsibilities

LEADERSHIP

  • Serves on the SOD leadership team, offering input on various leadership decisions

  • Serves as Chair of the SOD RPT Committee

  • Serves as Chair of the SOD CAV Review Committee

EXTRA EVENTS

  • Oversees the planning of “extra” events such as guest master classes, end-of-semester faculty/student conferences, mixed technique days, Final Jam, ArtsBash, etc. (For guest artists affiliated with production, collaborates with the Associate Director for Production & Season Planning)

  • Notifies Music Director of any shifts in musician scheduling due to extra events

  • Organizes mid-term and end-of-semester student conferences (lead instructors should collaborate, facilitate, & help plan)

  • Supports communication between students, faculty, staff, and SOD administration (ensuring that weekly announcements include all pertinent information)

  • Organizes and facilitates informal student awards processes (not scholarships)

FACULTY SUPPORT

  • Serves as a mentor for faculty, especially new and part-time instructors

  • Serves as a mentor for faculty undergoing review processes (RPT, TFR, & CAV)

  • Annually reviews the SOD Instructor Responsibilities and proposes updates/revisions

  • Supports instructors in finding subs as needed (in collaboration with SOD Front Office)


Responsibilities outlined in this document are in effect from July 1, 2025 through June 30, 2026.
