SUU Seeking Visiting Lecturer of Dance
Position Summary
Southern Utah University, a nationally accredited university located near the northern entrance to Zion National Park, seeks a highly motivated individual for a one year non-tenure track appointment as a Visiting Lecturer of Dance to begin August 2025. This faculty member will instruct upper division-level modern technique, Dance Composition, Improvisation, Dance Appreciation, and lower-division ballet or jazz technique.

Essential Functions
Be responsible for thirty instructional credit hours per year with contributions to departmental productions included.
Mentor at least two student choreographers per year.
Maintain at least five office hours per week.
Work collaboratively and productively with colleagues.
Education & Experience
Minimum Qualifications
M.F.A. or Ph.D. in Dance - requirements for graduation completed by August 2025.
Documented successful teaching experience in higher education.
Evidence of professional experience in the dance field.
Demonstrated expertise in teaching a selection of: lower and upper level modern techniques, improvisation, dance composition, dance appreciation, and lower division-level ballet or jazz technique.
Experience working collaboratively with colleagues and communities.
Demonstrate commitment to experiential undergraduate learning.
Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrate a value of diverse aesthetics and contemporary training practices.
Candidates that invest in culturally relevant teaching who are able to teach broadly within their discipline and are committed to teaching undergraduates in a liberal arts environment.
