Brian Pappal appointed Music Director for the School of Dance
The University of Utah School of Dance is pleased to announce that, effective July 1, 2025, Brian Pappal has been appointed Music Director for the School of Dance.
Brian Pappal is a pianist, conductor, composer, and vocalist with extensive experience as a collaborative musician in the world of dance. Whether at the keyboard or the podium, in the studio or on stage, his work is shaped by deep artistry, creative curiosity, and a collaborative spirit.
In addition to his work as a dance musician, Brian is an award-winning composer whose choral, instrumental, and dance music has been performed worldwide. He serves as Artistic Director of the Wasatch Symphony and the Mapleton Chorale, is a frequent guest conductor with Ballet West, and is a former company pianist with Carolina Ballet. He holds music degrees from Duquesne University and Brigham Young University.
After four years as a staff accompanist, Brian is delighted to join the School of Dance in this new capacity as Music Director.
